Human Figure Piggy Bank #301This particular piggy bank exhibits some wear as expected of an object of its age. Much of the original paint has survived the years, but aside from flaking, this coin bank has survived remarkably well. This model does not retain as much of its original paint as Piggy Bank 301, and has been priced accordingly. The piggy banks in this series measure approximately 18" x 9". The depiction of human figures in these banks was very rare. These historio-cultural artifacts are one of the few examples of them. As you can see, they are caricature renderings of people of color, typical of the time period. These pottery piggy banks were made in Mexico between approximately 1940 to 1951. |
